Advanced Editing Techniques

Learning Comment - In this task I learnt a lot about the ways in which advanced editing can impact a clip. I understand how important it is to uses a tripod and the way that people are positioned on the screen. I also found it fun to experiment with what we could change in a small and simple way, but would achieve an effective finish. I believe we achieved this best in the first and third video.
If I were to do it again then I would make sure everyone was stood in the correct place in-between takes to make it look more accurate. I also noticed that when we were editing the second video it was hard to cut it effectively as people were constantly moving, meaning nothing was accurately lined up. Furthermore, the traditions weren't very smooth until the jumping cuts. If I were to reshoot that particular video I would jump through the door every time so that I could achieve an effective outcome.

I think that this could be used in a music video in a more experimental sense. I would like to experiment with different software to see the different effects that can be used to achieve a more artistic and professional looking outcome.

Photoshop 1

Learning comment - I found this task really useful as I was able to get to know a brand new software (Photoshop). It was really fun as I was able to layer images over each other to create a brand new image. The layering was something that I had noticed in other musician’s posters and albums, I think I would like to experiment more with this. Another aspect of Photoshop I really like is the way that it allows to create colour contrast with in a photo. you can do this using filters or by selecting certain areas and editing them individually. I think that this works really well when you contrast black and white with colour images. I think it helps to make the image stand out more and will look at how I can best incorporate it into my final piece. it was also really good to experiment with different camera angles and how they can be used effectively.

Analysis of Digipak Adverts

Powered by emaze

Learning comment - I found this task interesting to see how despite having the same idea and intentions, every digipak advert was branded and marketed in a different way. it was very clear that they included the codes and conventions needed to identify consumers and spark their interest, but each one chose to use them in different ways. for example, Jessie J's name and album title was a very clear factor in the digipak advert, but Ed Sheeran didn't use this to the same extent keeping it simple and mysterious. i also know that images were used to grab people’s attention along with the bright colours, a common marketing technique. Furthermore, each artist was also branded in a different way as to keep their individuality and brand. this helps to identify target audience and speaks to the fans on a personal level.
