Photoshop 2

Powered by emaze

Learning Comment - Once again I found this task really useful as it gave me the chance to get to play about with other features of Photoshop. Instead of selecting different sections to isolate and layer, I used the whole image. This way I can see how well isolating the sections worked compared with layering the whole image. I was able to see how more effects impacted the image differently. I also got to see how I could put text on the image, as done on album covers (Digipaks). I feel like I have a better understanding of how photoshop is used to create albums and posters, so should be better prepared to do this for my won artist.

Advanced Editing Techniques

Learning Comment - In this task I learnt a lot about the ways in which advanced editing can impact a clip. I understand how important it is to uses a tripod and the way that people are positioned on the screen. I also found it fun to experiment with what we could change in a small and simple way, but would achieve an effective finish. I believe we achieved this best in the first and third video.
If I were to do it again then I would make sure everyone was stood in the correct place in-between takes to make it look more accurate. I also noticed that when we were editing the second video it was hard to cut it effectively as people were constantly moving, meaning nothing was accurately lined up. Furthermore, the traditions weren't very smooth until the jumping cuts. If I were to reshoot that particular video I would jump through the door every time so that I could achieve an effective outcome.

I think that this could be used in a music video in a more experimental sense. I would like to experiment with different software to see the different effects that can be used to achieve a more artistic and professional looking outcome.

Photoshop 1

Learning comment - I found this task really useful as I was able to get to know a brand new software (Photoshop). It was really fun as I was able to layer images over each other to create a brand new image. The layering was something that I had noticed in other musician’s posters and albums, I think I would like to experiment more with this. Another aspect of Photoshop I really like is the way that it allows to create colour contrast with in a photo. you can do this using filters or by selecting certain areas and editing them individually. I think that this works really well when you contrast black and white with colour images. I think it helps to make the image stand out more and will look at how I can best incorporate it into my final piece. it was also really good to experiment with different camera angles and how they can be used effectively.

The 30 Cut Chorus

Learning comment - I thought that this task was really good, as it allowed me to understand how a narrative can link with a song. It was also helpful regarding timing and how much narrative you can actually fit within a certain time period, for example you don't need a very detailed or long narrative in order to fill time and make use of the allotted time given. However, I don't feel that the storyline comes across very well in the first attempt, as it seemed quite confusing. I decided to repeat the task, focusing on keeping the narrative at a basic level. However, I see that you can use a wide range of camera angles to help make the piece longer if needs be and interesting to watch for the audience. I think it would also be a good idea to try and link the narrative and lip syncing to see how they can work together.
